Orthodent Laboratory partners with Softsmile; rebrands clear retainers as Vivid Aligners

ODL WILL INTEGRATE SOFTSMILE’S AI-BASED DIGITAL TREATMENT PLANNING SOFTWARE INTO ITS NEW PROVIDER PORTAL, WHICH WILL CREATE EFFICIENCIES IN THE VIVID ALIGNER MANUFACTURING PROCESS 

Orthodent Laboratory (ODL) announced a new partnership with SoftSmile Inc through which they will integrate SoftSmile’s AI-based digital treatment planning software, VISION, into ODL’s orthodontic manufacturing process. In tandem, ODL has announced the rebranding of its clear retainers, now known as Vivid Aligners, and a new accompanying portal for providers to create patient treatment plans. 

“We are thrilled to partner with SoftSmile Inc to power our refreshed Vivid Aligner brand with AI-based technology,” said Michael Wright, president of Orthodent Laboratory. “Through a newly optimized manufacturing process made possible by VISION, we can empower providers with industry-class resources to be more efficient, which brings savings back to our customers.” 

According to ODL, through this partnership, SoftSmile’s VISION software has been integrated into ODL’s new provider portal. Known as Vivid Portal, the web-based tool reportedly gives providers an interactive approach to each patient’s treatment plan. It combines AI-based technology with insights from certified orthodontists. According to ODL, this is designed to create operational efficiencies in three critical phases of ODL’s Vivid Aligner manufacturing process: preprocessing, setup, and post-processing.

To oversee the Vivid Aligner product line, Stuart Steinbock has been named vice president of corporate business development for ODL. In addition to responsibility for Vivid, Steinbock will work with ODL ownership to identify and validate additional product offerings that are consistent with ODL’s philosophy of improving orthodontic workflows, improved case outcomes, and the digitalization of the orthodontic office.

Full implementation of SoftSmile’s VISION into ODL’s process will be complete in August 2022. Both companies will be present at the American Association of Orthodontists’ Annual Session held in Miami Beach, Florida from May 21 to 23, 2022 to discuss the partnership with industry peers.
